Intertextuality

Intertextuality The way in which texts refer to other media texts that producers assume audiences will recognize. 

In the music video, Pork and Beans, by Weezer, the whole theme is different famous viral videos and are represented in different ways throughout the video. Not everybody will understand the references, but the people who do will appreciate the video more and feel like they relate to the video more thus enjoying the song and hopefully buy the song.

As a fan of internet videos, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video because I understood the references, I think that if you didn't understand the references then you probably wouldn't be able to enjoy it fully, however it is still a entertaining video to watch.
